Italian researchers have discovered a vast underground structure beneath the Giza Pyramids in Cairo, which is claimed to be 10 times larger than the pyramids.

Italian researchers announced that they have discovered a vast underground structure under the Pyramids of Giza in the Egyptian capital Cairo, which extends to a depth of about 1,220 meters and is claimed to be 10 times larger than the pyramids. The study, conducted by Corrado Malanga from the University of Pisa, Egyptologist Armando Mei from the University of Strathclyde and radar expert Filippo Biondi, identified 8 vertical cylindrical structures 640 meters below the pyramids and unidentified formations at a depth of 1,220 meters. The study, which has not yet been peer-reviewed by independent experts, is based on high-resolution images obtained with a sonar radar-like technology used to map the ocean floor.

Nicole Ciccolo, a spokesperson for the study, shared the data obtained within the scope of the research at a meeting held in Italy, saying that the study redefines the boundaries of archaeological research.

Professor Lawrence Conyers, a radar expert from the University of Denver, said that current technology could not penetrate so deep into the ground and that the idea of an underground city was too ambitious. Conyers also stated that targeted excavations should be carried out to confirm the discovery and that the data should be open to independent analysis.
