According to reports in Azerbaijani media, it was reported that the route of the plane was changed due to fog in Grozny. It was stated that 72 people were on board the crashed passenger plane. Kazakh authorities reported that there were survivors on the downed plane.
Authorities announced that 25 people survived on the plane belonging to Azerbaijan Airlines, but their condition was serious. Kazakhstan's Ministry of Emergency Situations dispatched 52 personnel and 11 units of equipment to the scene.
