Hotel chain Hand Picked Hotels has announced a number of staff have "entered a redundancy process".
From BBC, the company said less than 8% of its total workforce in Guernsey would be affected - its total number of staff is not known.
A statement from the group, which runs hotels across the Channel Islands, said lower than expected demand and the cost and difficulty of getting to the island were to blame.
A spokesperson said they hope that the "costs and ability of people to visit Guernsey will improve".
