Sailing boat carrying 22 tourists sinks in Italy: 7 missing

It was reported that a British-flagged sailing boat carrying 22 tourists sank off the coast of the Italian island of Sicily, resulting in 7 people missing.

The sailing boat capsized off the coast of Palermo, a city on the island of Sicily, Italy. Among those on board were 2 British-French citizens, 1 Irish, 1 New Zealander, 1 Sri Lankan, and 17 British citizens. Following the sinking of the boat, it was reported that 7 people are missing.

In a statement made by Italy's Health and Safety Agency, it was noted that the 50-meter-long British-flagged sailing boat sank at sunrise in an area struck by a hurricane and rough seas. Following the incident, 15 people, including one child, were rescued.

Italian firefighters' divers are continuing search operations around the ship, which is located approximately half a mile from the coast at a depth of around 50 meters.
